Botswana: Tlokweng MP Bathobakae Dies

The Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) spokesperson Moeti Mohwasa has confirmed the passing away of the party's MP for Tlokweng, Same Bathobakae. It is not clear what might have caused Bathobakae's sudden death. Mohwasa could not say much about her death, saying more information will be given out soon if there is any. Bathobakae's death is a huge loss not only to her family but also the women in general. She was one of the very few women MP's the country had and has always been an activist of gender equality. Bathobakae was voted into parliament in 2014 after a massive win in the Tlokweng constituency. Prior to going to parliament she served as a councillor for Tlokweng South. She also served as the chairperson of the South East council.
