Khartoum — The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Prof. Ibrahim Al-Dekheiri has said that the increase in the wheat crop cultivated area was 65% during the current year, which has achieved significant increase in production amounted to 58%.
The minister pointed out that the technologies that have been applied have had a significant impact on the achievement of these results, particularly the Gezira Scheme where the production rose from 0.9 tons to 1.4 tons per acre and the wheat harvested totaled 539,000 acres and the total production of 779,000 tons of wheat with an average production of 1.4 tons per acre.
