South Africa: Three Arrested for Business Robbery - Kakamas

The South African Police Service in Kakamas are investing an armed robbery that allegedly occurred yesterday morning (19/12) in Kakamas. It is alleged that three men entered the well-known supermarket, at approximately 6am, while the manager and 10 other workers were busy opening the premises for business. The suspects allegedly threatened them with guns and forced them into an office inside the building. The men coerced the manager to open the safe, took a substantial amount of cash and cell phones before fleeing with his Jeep. Police found the manager's Jeep abandoned just outside Kakamas on the Lutzput Road.

Police speedily followed up on leads and arrested three suspects in the Upington Area at approximately 16:00pm, on the same day. The Upington Visible Policing unit also managed to retrieve most of the stolen money, cell phones, a 9mm pistol with ammunition and some clothes that were purchased by the suspects. Police also confiscated the grey BMW 3-series the suspects were travelling in as it was allegedly utilised in the commission of the crime.
