Kenya: 20 Trans Nzoia MCAs Arrested in Imprest Probe, More Sought

Nairobi — Twenty Members of County Assembly from Trans Nzoia have been arrested in an ongoing investigation into imprests they took irregularly.

The 20 are part of 38 people being sought, including the Assembly Clerk and Speaker according to officers close to the probe.

The 38 are wanted for allegedly irregularly taking a Sh47,000 imprest each to travel to Nairobi.

They were purportedly taking the imprest to travel to Nairobi to receive the body of a colleague on September 15, 2014.

What prompted the probe is the fact that the body they were supposedly coming to receive in the capital city had already been transported to Trans Nzoia on September 9, 2014.
