South Africa: Willowvale Rapist Sentenced to 15 Years Imprisonment

Willowvale Regional Magistrate Court convicted and sentenced 34 year old Ongama Madolo to undergo 15 years imprisonment for rape of a 58 year old woman. It is alleged that the victim was sleeping alone on 26 October 2013 at about 01:30 at Bhakaneni Location, Weza Village, Willowvale. The husband of the victim was attending a night vigil in another village. The children of the victim were sleeping in another room.

The victim woke up being lit with a torch by the accused. The accused asked the whereabouts of the daughter of the victim and the latter told him where her daughter was. The accused further demanded money from the victim and she told him that she was penniless. The accused then accosted and raped her. Butterworth Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) traced and arrested the accused.
