South Africa: Burglary Business Suspects to Appear in Court

Tomorrow, 06 March 2017, two suspects, aged 34 and 26 are expected to appear in the Lichtenburg Magistrates' Court on charges of Burglary Business, Assault common, Possession of dagga, Possession of dangerous weapon and Possession of suspected stolen property.

The suspects' court appearance emanates from an incident when police members were summoned to a business burglary scene where a liquor store was broken into on Saturday, 04 March 2017 at Lichtenberg Central Business District ( CBD). It is alleged that on seeing the police, the suspects who allegedly had liquor, plastic bag containing dagga ran into different directions and a chase ensued. According to information, one suspect took out a knife and tried to stab a police official and that led to a scuffle. The suspect allegedly tried to disarm the police and in the process a shot went off and hit the suspect in the thigh.
