South Africa: Suspect Arrested for Possession of Unlicensed Firearm

On Monday, 25 April 2017, at 07:40, a 21-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm at Nongoma bus rank. On the said date, the police who were conducting their crime prevention duties at Nongoma followed up information about a person in possession of unlicensed firearm at the rank. On arrival, the members saw a suspicious person fitting the same description and searched him. He was found in possession of a 38 special revolver with ammunition. The recovered firearm will be sent to ballistic to establish whether it was used in any other crimes in the province.

On the same day while members were still conducting their patrols in the area, they arrested three suspects aged between 20 and 24 years old for armed robbery at Nongoma area. The arrested suspects will appear in the Nongoma Magistrate's Court today, facing armed robbery charge.
