Nigeria: Axa Mansard Pensions Appoints Bello As Non-Executive Director

The Board of Directors of AXA Mansard Pensions Limited has appointed Abubakar Sadiq Bello as an independent non-executive director of the company. Bello, a seasoned banker with over 24 years cognate experience in banking, started his career in 1990 as a pioneer member of staff of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc. He rose through the ranks at GTBank where he held several key management positions.

He left GTBank in 2011 as a General Manager and the bank's Chief Compliance Officer. In August 2011, he was appointed to the board of Mainstreet Bank Limited as an Executive Director responsible for the North Bank directorate until December 2014.

He was the pioneer Chairman, Committee of Chief Compliance Officers of Banks in Nigeria; Vice Chairman, Committee of Heads of Bank Operations of Banks in Nigeria (CHBO); Member, Unique Taxpayer Identification Number (UTIN) Steering Committee; Member, MICR Technical Implementation Committee and a faculty member of Financial Institutions Training Centre (FITC) and Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN).

He graduated with first class honours in Business Management from the University of Maiduguri in 1987. He also has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Benin in1990 where he was awarded Best graduating MBA student in Operations Research Course.

He has also attended various courses and seminars locally and abroad, including the Leading Corporate Renewal program at the prestigious IMD, Switzerland, among others. He is married with children. The Board and Management of AXA Mansard Pensions Limited are confident that his wealth of experience would be a boost to the existing mix on the board.
