Justice Department to host an imbizo on sexual violence and abuse in Khayelitsha
The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development will together with the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security Cluster (JCPS) departments host an Imbizo to raise awareness against sexual violence and abuse in Khayelitsha on Thursday, 15 June 2017.
The Imbizo is necessitated by the findings of the Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) on Violence against Women and Children. According to the IMC's report, one in three children is likely to be a victim of sexual assault and physical abuse.
The JCPS Cluster believes that the Imbizo will empower the communities of Elsies River, Mitchells Plain and Khayelitsha to exercise their rights and collectively eliminate the scourge of sexual violence and abuse.
