Provincial detectives have a reason to smile after they secured heavy sentences for a suspect who was charged with an array of offences ranging from theft to rape and murder. Mxolisi Rwanqa (35) was sentenced in the Cape High Court this week to two life sentences for rape and murder of a 14-year-old Ocean View boy. He was also sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for the rape of a 26-year-old woman, five years for assault GBH, housebreaking and theft and two one year sentences for separate house breaking and theft cases.
All the offences were committed in September 2015. Provincial SAPS management has commended the efforts of the investigation team. Warrant Officers van der Merwe and Cloete as well as Sergeant Smith are praised for putting an end to the crime spree caused by the accused.
