press release

Perhaps you want to take-over Africa with your business empire, or want to extend your products or services beyond your existing African country. Perhaps you already do. Either way, there couldn’t be a better way to target Africa as a continent or identify with Africa, than a .africa domain name.

.africa is the top-level domain name system for the continent of Africa. It is open to every individual and entity in Africa, or any that identify with Africa, globally. Web4Africa is an ICANN Accredited Domain Name Registrar and is accredited to offer .africa domain names. The availability is in Phases.

Landrush Phase #4

This Phase ends on 30th June 2017. During this period, interested parties can reserve domains they are happy to pay a premium pricing for. These would typically be domains based on signle-words that are heavy in everyday use. This phase has already attracted a lot of interest with Web4Africa successfully reserving choice domains on behalf of clients.

Pre-Registration

This is a very brief period just before the official General Availability. Web4Africa would accept .africa domain applications and queue them for automatic registration immediately the registry opens the General Availability Phase. This increases the chances of registrants procuring domains they did not apply for during the Landrush Phase. This brief period is between 1st and 3rd July 2017.

General Availability

This is when the flood gates of .africa registrations are opened to the general public, so to speak. Domains that have been blocked by trademark owners via TMCH would not be available except where  the applicant can provide the TMCH validation token. Between 4th and 31st July, .africa domains would command a somewhat premium pricing. This is still an opportunity to grab valuable domains.

General Availability Price Reduction

From 2nd August, .africa domain names would then have a more regular pricing, going forward.

Domain Reselling

Reseller opportunities are available where a prospect can demonstrate an intention for mass-registration. API access can be granted following a successful application, for future automated .africa domain registration, renewal and management. The same applies to large domain portfolio owners or domainers.

The pricing, Frequently Asked Questions and other details for each of the Phases are available at www.web4africa.africa
