Liberia: Legislature Receives Act to Establish Special Economic Zones

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has forwarded to the National Legislature for ratification an Act seeking to "Repeal Chapter 5 of the Public Authorities Law Creating the Liberia Industrial Free Zone Authority, and to enact a new Chapter 5 to be known as the Special Economic Zones Act of 2017.

The Act seeks to establish a special Economic Zone (SEZ) framework to promote industrial, commercial, manufacturing, agribusiness, forestry, renewable energy, petrochemical and electricity generation.
