He may seem brazen, but give South African President Jacob Zuma a little - relative - credit for subtlety; he has at least captured the state by proxy, through his business cronies the Gupta brothers.
His good friend and Angolan counterpart José Eduardo dos Santos has disregarded such niceties and simply put his kids directly into key economic positions. His daughter Isabel, possibly Africa's richest woman, runs the state oil company Sonangol, the font of most of the country's revenue. His son José Filomeno, meanwhile, runs Angola's sovereign wealth fund, another immense treasure chest.
