South Africa: Government Must Provide People With Electricity to Stop Illegal Connections

The Inkatha Freedom Party calls on government in particular municipalities to fast track the process of providing people with electricity in order to eradicate the scourge of illegal connections which puts people's lives at risk.

"The death of a man in Mkholombe area near Bhobhoyi on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal who was electrocuted by illegal power connections is evidence that people are in desperate need of having electricity and that is why they have resorted to illegal connections as a solution. Illegal power connections are also prevalent in Masinenge area near Uvongo and all across the province.
