Nigeria: Two Students Arrested for Allegedly Robbing Contractor in Akwa Ibom

The Police in Akwa Ibom have arrested two students of the Heritage Polytechnic, Eket, for allegedly robbing an ExxonMobil contractor in Eket Local Government Area of the state.

The Public Relations Officer of the Police Command in the state, DSP Ikechukwu Ogechukwu, confirmed the arrest.

Ogechukwu said policemen arrested the suspects at the Imperial Hotel, SDP road, Eket, while robbing the contractor.

"We will take them to court after the investigation," Ogechukwu said.

The owner of the hotel, Mr Bassey Essien, a former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, said the suspects had been handed over to the police.

Essien said that three suspects were actually involved in the Aug. 13 incident, but that one of them had escaped.

"We have handed over the remaining two suspects, including a girl, to the Eket Police Divisional Headquarters," he said.
