Uganda: Kenzo Wins Big At Ue Awards

Eddy Kenzo was the biggest winner of the third edition of the Uganda Entertainment Awards (UEA) held at Kampala Serena hotel last Saturday.

Kenzo was the top winner last year. The awards are meant to appreciate outstanding talent in the entertainment industry. The awards were a success this year, right from the red carpet to the cheerful hosts.

Radio personality Malaika Nyanzi has really turned the tables and is arguably the best female MC on the circuit at the moment, blending smarts with humour and also engaging the crowd.

However, the biggest problem is the voting system and criteria of selecting winners, which is not clear, thus the backlash on social media about the winners. Kenzo walked away with Artiste of the Year and Male Artiste of the Year awards, a decision met with raised eyebrows from the crowd.

But the audience cheered on as The Triplets Ghetto Kids were given the Best Dance Group award after beating Roz Viccy Cathy, Trojans Dance Group, IDU, Kings 256 and Platinum Dance Crew.

And from representing Uganda on the BET stage in French Montana's Unforgettable video, that got him his first No.1 hit on the Hot Rap Songs charts, the Ghetto Kids are not about to stop.

They became the highlight of the night after putting up a crazy performance.
