South Africa: High Court Outlaws Corporal Punishment At Home

Greetings from South Africa, where the South Gauteng High Court ruling has declared parents will no longer be allowed to spank their children. Corporal punishment has previously been outlawed as a punishment in the justice system or in schools, but parents could still smack their children using a plea of special defence of reasonable chastisement.

Parents in South Africa will now have to think twice about hitting their children as a form of punishment. They will no longer be able to use the special defence plea in court.
