As we celebrate this year's top-performing KCPE candidates, we need to appreciate the fundamental change that has taken place in the education sector in the past two years.

While releasing the 2017 KCPE examination results at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development, Nairobi, last week, Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i said the number of candidates who got less than 100 marks out of 500 were 2,360 compared to 6,747 last year.
