South Africa: Glebelands Hostel Satellite Police Station Officially Opened

The Glebelands Hostel satellite police station has officially been opened to the delight of hostel residents. During the official opening of the satellite police station Minister of Police, Fikile Mbalula accompanied by Lieutenant General Nobesuthu Masiye, Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa and eThekwini Municipality Deputy Mayor, Councillor Fawzia Peer were in attendance.

The official opening ceremony was held on Friday, 1 December 2017 where various speakers welcomed the opening of the new facility and acknowledged that the community will benefit from the addition of a satellite police station. The station will be opened 24-hours a day and members of the community were encouraged to make use of the facility which brings services closer to them. A new police van was also allocated to the satellite police station and will be utilised by police officers performing duties at the station. In addition to the police officers stationed at the satellite police station the SAPS has other units such as the National Intervention Unit and Public Order Policing deployed in the hostel on a 24-hour basis.
