Kenya: Sonko Hosts First Devolution Sensitisation Week


Nairobi — The Council of Governors is set to hold the inaugural devolution sensitisation week from Wednesday.

During the three day programme, Governors will engage the public and educate them on the core mandate of the Council, county Best Practices and projects.

"Articles 10(2) (a) states 'Participation of people' is one of the key values and principles of governance. Therefore, Article 232(1) (d) instructs all civil servants to 'involve the people in the process of policy making," a statement from the Council of Governors reads.

"To achieve our mandate and provide a platform for public participation under Articles 1, 10(2) (a) and 232(1), the Council of Governors has organised the first Devolution Sensitisation Week to be hosted at Kencom House, Nairobi County from 6th - 8th December, where it will engage the public."

It will also offer free breast cancer screening and counseling in collaboration with Women for Cancer.
