opinion

Without a shadow of doubt, Ethiopia is making history by getting itself fully engaged in uninterrupted construction push across the country. At this point in time, no body denies the fact that quite a lot of high-rise buildings, apartments and condominium houses have been under construction in most parts of the nation for the most part in the capital, Addis Ababa. It will not be a hyperbole to claim that the overviews of the majority of Ethiopia's cities as well as towns are out of this world and eye-catching to anyone who stops by.

This is the result of the unwavering effort of the Ethiopian government that has been working around the clock with the intention of taking the county to a new chapter of success and gradually catapulting it to the pinnacle of growth. As an architect of development, the incumbent is really tailoring a range of strategies which allows the country socioeconomic take off. Hence, Ethiopia is turning out to be a must-see destination worldwide right now and its peoples are unshackling themselves from the fetters of poverty.

By the same token, owing to the rigorous endeavors of the incumbent, Ethiopia is growing to be one of the most magnetic investment hubs. To the surprise of many, investors from different parts of the world flow to Ethiopia from time to time considering the existing sustainable peace and security as well as the human and natural potentials of the country crafted by the Ethiopian government. In fact, Ethiopia has been catching the attention of worldwide distinguished investors to spend their capital on a range of mining, hotel and tourism, agriculture, industries. Most of them have already begun operating their business in various parts of the country and the world media are resonating and amplifying the government's success every so often.

If one goes to the left, right and center of the country, one bumps into several international standard hotels, malls, and what not. They unquestionably be of assistance to create thousands of job opportunities for fellow citizens signaling in black and white the dazzling accomplishment of Ethiopia that has turned a reason of jealousy on those who pour cold water on the government's endeavors.

Decades back, it was beyond the domain of possibility hosting international conferences in the country's main nations' cities as there were finger counted standard hotels in Addis Ababa. But after the incumbent came into power, several international standard hotels kept on mushrooming across the country in a jiffy. Hence, currently it is possible to host international conferences in most cities of the country. All eyes are on Ethiopia at this moment in time. What a great achievement!

If truth be told, it is entirely difficult to be successful overnight as there are a number of predicaments to pass through. The glaring development of the country being registered across the country is the outcome of the viability of the Ethiopian government policy directions and strategies. Without exaggeration, the country is drawing the attention of the global community through its mega projects dotting the map of the country. Hence, it is winning the attention of the global community through its sustainable development. Thus, everyone could harvest the fruit of success from time to time.

At one time, the road infrastructure of the country was not in a good shape and form. There were no wide roads across the country suitable for the wider community. As ill luck would have it, it was easier said than done to reach in a day from some parts of a town or city to a certain area owing to the unsuitability of the roads infrastructures. But after the incumbent took power, the road infrastructure in Ethiopia kept on expanding in every nook and cranny of the country including the most remote areas in the rural parts.

Within the shortest time possible the whole lot pertaining to road problems jump-started bearing fruit making the lives of the general public easier than ever before. Farmers who were in the habit of putting up for sale their goods cheaply in their respective areas considering the road problems at that point in time, have proved to be successful in a short time. Furthermore, passengers can reach anywhere within hours wherever the destination may be as a result of the commitment of the incumbent.

For instance let us see the work underway to connect different corners of the country with a road network.

The railway line of Awash-Woldia/ Hara Gebeya Project is 390 Kilometers long. At the present time, 59 % of the project has seen completion. The construction task comprising 12 caves, 65 bridges and 824 water sewerage and sanitation channels is in the pipeline. Furthermore, the construction move of bridges and caves is more than 50% through. The length of the caves in the project is 10 kilometer. A two-kilometer-long cave, which is under construction around the Hara Market square, is the longest one.

As the project is being carried out in two phases, 75% of the first phase which covers 270 KM from Awash to Kombolcha has been successfully accomplished. What is more, the trial test will be carried out after three or so months.

Astoundingly, 6500 employees have been partaking in the construction of the project. More than 4000 of them are Ethiopians. Among them, 275 Ethiopians have been taking part in various tasks requiring high knowledge and high skill. Therefore, the essential knowledge transfer is being carried out.

In the past, the number of higher learning institutions across the country were finger counted. Thus, the fate of most students was sitting at home idly , if not forcefully conscripted to the national military service, which was claiming the lives of many given that the number of students joining the higher learning institutions were not that big. But at this point in time, the number of higher learning institutions across the country has been snowballing in addition to graduating thousands of students with degree, master's and PhD programs.

Every year, thousands of students join the various universities of the country based on their choice with the intention of pursuing their studies in various disciplines. Above and beyond, the number of higher learning institutions of the country makes an upward swing year on year. To be quite honest, as may on different occasions point out, this is a testimony of the government's steadfast dedication towards producing sufficient higher education opportunities for the citizenry.
