Mozambique: MPDC Investing 64 Million Dollars to Reconstruct Quays

Maputo — The Maputo Port Development Company (MPDC) intends to invest about 64 million US dollars to rebuild quays numbers six, seven, eight and nine in Maputo Port, totalling 1,058 metres of berths.

According to a Wednesday press release from MPDC, the berthing zone will be deepened to 15 metres, allowing vessels of greater draught to dock. The three quays are currently almost derelict, and rehabilitating them will greatly increase the port's capacity.
