South Africa: Julius Malema's Funeral Tribute to the Late Great Winnie Nomzamo Madikizela-Mandela Sparks the #JuliusMalemaChallenge

Julius Malema, the leader of the South African political party the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), inspired a Twitter hashtag #JuliusMalemaChallenge following his speech at the Mother of the Nation's funeral. He hit out at people and groups who, according to him, had betrayed her in life but extolled her in death.

Multitudes of South Africans gathered for the funeral service of anti-apartheid stalwart and liberation leader Winnie Nomzamo Madikizela-Mandela at the Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg's Soweto township. Mourners followed her coffin in procession into and out of the stadium as the service preceded her burial at Fourways Memorial Park.
