South Africa: Addo Rapist Sentenced to 21 Years Imprisonment

Uitenhage Cluster — Violence committed against women and children remains one of the main focus areas, in our fight against crime and offenders can expect that investigators from the Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) in Uitenhage, will pursue every prospect to ensure that offenders are brought before court to ensure that maximum sentencing is installed. Relentless efforts by members from the South African Police Service designated to the Uitenhage FCS Unit together with the criminal justice system, proved to be effective today, Monday, 7 May 2018, when a perpetrator was sentenced effectively to 21-years imprisonment in the Grahamstown High Court on a charge of rape.

Fundile Sinuka, 32-years-old was sentenced to 21-years imprisonment on Monday, 7 May 2018 for the rape of an 88-year-old victim. The victim was raped by the 32-year-old accused on 28 April 2017 at about 15:30 in Addo. Sinuka was apprehended on 30 April 2017 and sentenced today effectively.
