Nigeria: Presidency Defends Detention of 'Journalist' Without Trial

Jones Abiri, the man arrested by the State Security Services, SSS, without trial, is not a journalist and does not belong to any chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity claimed Thursday night.

Mr Shehu said Abiri was arrested for pipeline vandalism and crude theft, including militant activities in the Niger Delta.
