Angola: President Announces Tender for Dande Special Zone Concession

Bengo — A public tender for the concession of the Special Economic Zone of Barra do Dande will be launched in the next 20 days, MPLA leader João Lourenço, announced Saturday during a mass event in the city of Caxito, Bengo province.

According to the politician, to be built in an extensive area, the future economic zone will combine sea and road transport, fuel storage, state of the art industry, commerce and tourism.

He said, without specifying a timeframe, that once it was concluded it would undoubtedly attract direct foreign investment as the tax system would be one of the most attractive.

Without listing how many, he explained that it would bring "many jobs", especially for young people, because it would be a kind of industrial, commercial and tourist city.

Ocean Terminal

According to the President of the Republic, the government is building the Barra do Dande Ocean Terminal, located in Bengo province, which has the mission of storing fuel in large quantities.

He said that, with capacity to store 582,000 cubic metres of fuel, including gasoline, diesel and even butane gas, the facility would be concluded after August 2023 to serve the population and the economy.

Barra do Dande, one of the communes of Dande municipality, Bengo province, is the main industrial centre of the region, thanks to its location and easy access to the country's capital (Luanda).
