Justice Forum LIBERIA (JFL) Executive Director, Maxson S. Kpakio, has expressed disappointment in the Chairperson of the National Elections Commission (NEC), Cllr. Davidetta Brown Lansanah for what he calls "poor handling" of the just-ended Lofa County by-election.

Recently, citizens of Lofa went to election to occupy the vacuum left by Brownie J. Samukai whose legal disability disallowed him from taking this seat at the Senate when he was elected in 2020.

Speaking at a news conference, the Justice boss said because the NEC boss did not manage the election well, she needs to leave the position by peacefully resigning.

Kpakio frowned on the NEC Chairperson for failing to exercise high professional standards in the process leading to the collection, imputation of data before speaking to the public - in giving the provisional results during a press conference on Thursday.

Justice Forum Executive Director reminded the leadership of the NEC that the bad handling of elections can bring political instability to a country.

"The conduct of the vital information sharing via the press conference in which the Chairperson Madam Lansanah harshly responded to journalists was counter-productive," Kpakio said.

Expressing his concerns further, JFL Executive Director reminded the Chairperson of the NEC that lot of rooms led to serious misunderstanding, and misconception was created by the failure of Madam Lansanah to properly and professionally handle the one county election, and that all peace-loving citizens of Liberia have the right to be concerned; observing that 2023 general elections are just a few months away.

He, therefore, called on all partners of Liberia, including government representatives in Liberia, ECOWAS, the United Nations, and human rights organizations to launch an investigation into the conduct of the Lofa County just-ended by-election.
