Angola: Over 1,000 Vacancies Available in Primary Education in Benguela

Benguela — At least 112,294 vacancies are available in the primary education sector, in the centre-west Benguela Province for the 2022/2023 school term, the director of the local education office, Edmundo Salupula, has said.

The education official disclosed also that there are 37,952 vacancies for 7th grade students,13,551 vacancies for secondary school , 6,300 for general education, 4.641 for vocational courses and 2.610 for teachers' training.

Salupula explained that the province has 956 schools, most of them in precarious conditions, from primary to secondary education, at a time when 146,000 children are still out of the education system in the region.

The education official added that the huge demand from parents seeking vacancies in elementary school has led to overcrowding, since the number of existing educational institutions are currently at the limit of their capacity due to the disproportionate growth of the population compared to the number of schools.
