Angola and Spain Strengthen Cooperation

Luanda — Angola and Spain Friday in Luanda analyzed the deepening of bilateral cooperation in several fields, with stress to the implementation of the signed agreements.

The cooperation was analysed during a meeting between the minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, and the ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Angola, Manuel Maria Lejarreta.

According to a press release from the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two entities discussed matters of common interest, with particular emphasis on the exchange of official visits, at the highest level, by delegations from both countries.

Angola has become a strategic country for Spain's external growth in Africa. The 2023 Foco África plan will channel institutional support for investments by Spanish companies in the continent.

In September 2021, the President of the Republic João Lourenço visited Madrid, capital of Spain, during an international tour that took him to the United States of America.

The Angolan Head of State reciprocated the visit that the Spain's Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, made to the country on April 7, 2021, shortly after presenting an ambitious Spanish plan to gain influence in Africa.

With Angola and six other African countries, Spain intends to build different, broader relations, based on mutual cooperation, between Europe and Africa.
