It's interesting that tsvangi is now holding talks with IMF & World Bank, after the realisation that the economic sanctions he called for from the same people are now hitting him hard...He is tasting his own medicine..Tsvangi never imagined himself experiencing the sanctions on a personal level..He never imagined in any way that one day he will be in the same gvt with the people ,he&his western sponsors were trying to depose using sanctions..Now that IMF & World bank have categorically said that the embargo he called for will not be lifted , what is he going to do?? ..Tsvangson used to boast around that he had the keys to unlock sanctions..Now, what happened to those keys??Akatyoka here?, aende kunochekesa mamwe..This is a major lesson to other opposition parties in africa , that if u call for outsiders to destroy your house in the vain hope that they will assist u in rebuilding it later, it will boomrang against u...Innocent people in zim are going to suffer becoz of irresponsible behaviour by Mdc individuals...

Takynya/Mabhiza, please read the following from the article "Economist Luke Zunga said Tsvangirai's meetings with the Breton Woods Institutions would most likely have centred on how the country was going to pay back the US$1 billion debt it owes to them.Tsvangirai cannot ask for the debts to be cancelled because that requires a number of specific programmes to be in place in the country before that happens. There should be tangible evidence of the restoration of human rights and the rule of law for the IMF or World Bank to consider even listening to his pleas for debt canceling,' Zunga said. In fact people should be told the truth that no aid money is going to Zimbabwe anytime soon, as long as there are no reforms. The best Tsvangirai can do now is to plead for aid to speed up constitutional reforms to allow the country to have free and fair elections after the exercise,' Zunga added.

    Says it all really.

ITs all about Zimbabwe's debt. Nothing to do with any fictitious sanctions you continue to post lies about.

Tsvangerai isnt experiencing sanctions at all. He's not got any money frozen, and by being in the US, its clear that he is free as a bird to travel how he wishes. And I'm sure he's not concerned by the arms embargo on Zimbabwe either. God knows how many lives of MDC supporters that has saved.

You say that the IMF & World bank have categorically said that the embargo will not be lifted... couldnt agree more! And why should it be lifted when peoples human rights simply arent respected in Zimbabwe.

Its funny that you think that the people of Zim are suffering purely because of the MDC actions. Clearly this shows how deluded and distant you are from the reality faced by the people of Zimbabwe today, and just goes to show how little relevance your comment have.

    Awt;

The so-called analyst, Luke Zunga, knows next to nothing about the brief that Tsvangirai was given by President Mugabe before leaving for the trip. The fact that he said "would most likely have centered on" is proof enough that he is ignorant, hence is only speculating on what he thinks to be the mission of the PM to Europe and North America.

The pre-occupation, the outstanding issue in Zimbabwe right now is the removal of those evil, illegal, racist, barbaric and ruinous sanctions on the people of my country, Zimbabwe. Anything else is just peripheral. Everybody in Zimbabwe is experiencing sanctions and that includes those who called for their imposition.

Tsvangirai, at his swearing-in ceremony, promised to pay civil servants their salaries in USD but four months down the line he still has not fulfilled that promise - SANCTIONS. Tsvangirai promised to, immediately after taking office, tackle the issue of garbage collection and sewerage systems in Harare and other cities, load shading, the issue of schools and hospitals, the issue of potholes on our roads.

The government and indeed the PM are still to do anything significant in these directions - SANCTIONS. Thus if Tsvangirai is not feeling the sanctions that are affecting his government then there is something weird about him.

If, as you rightly say, his bank accounts are stashed with billions of Dollars, why is he not bringing the money he was given by the CIA, MI6 and the Westminster Foundation to Zimbabwe to help the people who are still dying because of the SANCTIONS he called for?

Our farmers are unable to grow winter crops right now because of lack of inputs, chemicals and diesel and this money will be of much use in this regard. Farmers who are currently sending their produce to the GMB cannot be paid timely because of lack of money - SANCTIONS. Our industries have not opened because they cannot get enough forex to re-capitalize, all this because of sanctions. So his money, stashed outside the country, will be of great help.

Now if a whole Prime Minister cannot feel or is not affected by sanctions that are biting everybody else around, except him, then there is something wrong with that PM. OR is it you, as a current colonizer - the exterminator of the Maori people - who wants to continue dividing the people of Zimbabwe so that you can fulfill your colonial ambitions, so that in less than 10 years black Zimbabweans could be a minority to your race?

Be reminded though that we are much cleverer than when Rhodes came and Zimbabwe is now a powerful nation and a force to reckon with the world over. You and no one else for that matter can push us around.

Takunya or whatever you call yourself, how can you be so ignorant!! If Mugabe thought he could it alone, why does he so badly want the sanctions to be removed? He said he doesn't need the West so why play folly? He is just an idiot and you have sold your conscience so bad that you are blinded by your ignorance.

taykuna or mabhiza or whoever you are why do you even wast time writing because everything you say proves nothing except you are just relaying thoughts of a biased Zanu-pf loyalist who thinks mugabe is a god, well wake up he is not and neither is the zanu-pf so stop worshiping them.

All you do is go on about how the MDC is a friend of the West and cause of these so called sanctions which has caused the problems of Zimbabwe. You never once place blame on Mugabe and the Zanu-pf who have been in charge for the past 30years which is more than enough time for them to make a change and prosper their country but they have failed miserably.. You talk about Tsvangirai and the money that he has been given from the West which so stupid to even make that comment but I challenge you to think about Mugabe and all the money he has stolen from the West coming in to help the people which he has used to help himself only? So give up the I am holier than the West attitude because anyone can see through your self righteous attitude and no that is a lie...

As for the farmers well most of the land they took by force so guess what that is your own fault so as much as you hated the white farmers there you know that they did help the people and know how to farm, so now you have ran them off you have no clue what to do except again blame someone else for your own problems that is what you do best...

So now you are up the river without a paddle so think on that proverb!

If Tsvangirai gets anything be thankful but not looking optimistic looks Zimbabwe is in debt to the USA already in the amount of 1 billion USD, so until Mugabe and the Zanu-pf can get on board with change and truly make this unity government work and truly want the best for Zimbabwe then the people of Zimbabwe have to suffer because of Mugabe and the Zanu-pf's selfishness to hold on to complete control of Zimbabwe.. They cannot have complete control of the country much longer so whether they like it or not they had better change their mindset and attitude for the people's sake..

According to English, Indian, Canadian and USA news reports, Mr tsvangirai had a somewhat successful meeting with Mr Obama and Mrs Clinton. The State department spokesman Ian Kelly said the USA Administration was looking for "ways to ease the suffering of the Zimbabwean people without bolstering those forces that are clinging to corruption and repression." With that the USA gave Mr Tsvangirai US73 million dollars in aid. The comment passed by the Americans is the sentiment of all western countries as they have no animosity against the Zimbabwean people, but have great reservations about Mugabe because of his non committal to the Unity government process and reforms and his history of thefts of money from Zimbabwe. Even in spite of it all, the United States has continued to trade with Zimbabwe in Millions of dollars annually. This continued trading by the way, is one of the reasons that I and many others continue to state that the sanctions are against Mugabe and his other thieves otherwise the USA would be busting its own sanctions if they were against Zimbabwe.
