Concord Times (Freetown), 31 August 2010

Dr. Wurie is SLPP though and through; and can easily connect with Sierra Leoneans because of his fundamental belief that we are all equal, and we are one country and one people. He is one of the former government ministers who can actually point to tangible achievements up and down our country.

He embodies the best our country has to offer; - but it is an inspiration to know that he actually came from an ordinary background like many of us. No wonder he is so passionate about education, hard work and social mobility. With Alpha as president, I believe every child will have a chance to succeed in life and parents will be able to concentrate on other areas rather than paying tuition fees for their children.

President Koroma will see Dr. Wurie as a dreaded political rival because he is the one person who can match him street by street, up and down our country making the case; winning the arguments for the SLPP and in the process of uprooting him from statehouse and sending APC fat cats back to parliament.

There are other talented candidates running for the SLPP leadership, but this is Alpha’s time and he is ready to lead the party of Sir Milton and John Benjamin back to statehouse.

Mr;wurrie, we thank you for your education, but alll i can say is tHAT SLPP WILL NEVER AND EVER LEADS OUR COUNTRY again unless a new sierra leone ,this time we need not degrees but pratical people to move the country to the map and better lives for its citizens. My question is, How many people in sierra leone with degree in agriculture DO any one of them has a single swamp to feed the nation? Ques.2. which mineral in sierra leone used to make welding rods? Are we not expoting the mineral and inporting welding rods? I don`t want to say much.thank u God bless u,

At the height of the rebel war I had to move to Freetown to complete my secondary education (from 1999 – 2002). With Dr Wurie as minister of Education I had the opportunity to take my exams without paying fees. I passed my exams and proceeded to FBC.

Today I am a proud accountant.

That man doesn’t even know me, but I share Akie Cole’s comments because people like me benefited from Dr Wuries’s policies when he was minister.

I’m not that keen on politics but when you see the likes of Bamidele Coker drawing conclusions without genuine premises you begin to question.

If Dr. Wurie becomes flag bearer of the SLPP, I’ll vote for him any day for President of Sierra Leone simply because many more people might enjoy the same benefits I enjoyed few years ago.
