This is another unspoken benefits of Obasanjo;s vision. I would remind Northerners that prior to Obasanjo, majority of the Military leaders came from the North. Yet, they lacked the vision and the consideration for the welfare and well-being of their citizens. It would take a Southerner who thought inclusively to to have the Federal Government fund the hospital. Where was Buhari and Babangida at the time? Where were the Northern Leaders Political Forum and the AREWA Constituent Assembly whose political mantra was for a Northerner to rule Nigeria by any means necessary? Where were all these noise makers whose only political aspiration is to become president of Nigeria, no matter what the cost was?

I am quite sure that this is not an isolated incident. There are many such success stories that Obasanjo did that have not come to fore yet. I am particularly a fan of Gen. Obasanjo. But, there are many Northerners who would rather have a man with an inclusive vision of ONE NIGERIA to lead the country, than the vision of those who see Nigeria through the prism of religious differences or regional political party affiliations. Gen. Buhari and his CPC political party failed, not because of their lack of authenticity, but because the party did not possess a National Appeal. In todays Nigeria, it would be quite difficult to win the presidential election if your political philosophy is based on regionalisation of the country's political landscape.

So, I do hope that while the handlers of Gen. Buhari are busy misleading him on spending money fighting an unwinable case in court, he would've been better off saving his money and energy on doing positive things so as to endear him to all Nigerians. While I am on this subject, I want also to remind Gen. Buhari that it was actually Idiagbon whose leadership principles made many Nigerians proud, not Buhari. I wish Buhari's handlers could advise him better. To attempt to fight Jonathan who is from the Niger Delta would make it extremely difficult for the Niger Deltans to support any Northern candidate for president in 2015. And most definitely, if the Niger Delta walks away from him, the South-West or the South-East would definitely not take so kindly towards supporting a Northern candidate for the presidency. The Nigerian electorates would soon not forget what happened to the Youth Corpers in the North during this past election. And, by Buhari taking the course he is taking, it would be exceptionally difficult to get anyone in these regions I've outlined to look very kindly towards any Northern Candidate for president in 2015. These political handlers for Buhari must be so blind as to not see the political implications for their current action. As Mr. "T" of the A-Team program would say, "I Pity The Fool".
