• Africa: A Stream Cannot Rise Above Its Source

    Fahamu (Oxford), 22 November 2012

Who funds the African Union? Africans can not champion their own solutions when they can't pay for them. Financing Africa's unification by outside sources endangers genuine development and self-respect.

It´s the never ending story. Africa is (still) the child everyone likes to play with. Europe, America and now Asia/China.

Theh root of the problem lies in our leadership. Gaddafi was a joke only Africans took serious while the rest hunt him down for personal interest or rolled out red carpets to get Libyas oil.

If a father cannot take responsibility for his family how can he command respect to his peers?

That Nigerias Obasanjos is heading the AU´s anti-corruption unit is another remarkable move in AU´s politics and I must wonder how Nigerians feel about this joke of the week?

He who pays the bread, his songs shall I sing it goes! The EU crisis and financial woes caused by the capitalistic adventures worldwide was another chance for African leaders for a deep insight and conclusions, but I guess just like Russia (minus the power of Russia), our leaders have given up on us. Maybe its time we give up n them and make what is necessary. Despite all, Africa is growing in numbers and meaning as the world system seeks for more metals, waters, forests and human labor...only this time, we can´t say we didn´t know. God bless!
