• Kenya: No Maize Imports in a Years Time

The Star (Nairobi), 30 December 2012

The government will not allow any maize imports in the next one year due to a bumper harvest by farmers. Managing Director Gideon Misoi says farmers have harvested more than 40 million bags this year which will be adequate for the country in the next one year. Misoi says the government subsidy programme to support farmers through supply of fertilizer contributed to the increased harvests.
