Burkina Faso continued the trend of upset results at the African Nations Cup, scoring with the last kick of the match to earn a debatably deserved share of the spoils with Nigeria in a 1-1 draw at Nelspruit's Mbombela Stadium.
By the very fact that, Nigeria could not hold on to their one goal lead
over the Burkina babes, and the defending champions Zambia could escape
narrowly from a 10 man Ethiopia, and the Bafana Bafana were held to a
goaless draw like the Morocans - Angolans and the Black Stars of Ghana
escaped DR Congo; it follows therefore that there is no longer push overs
in African Football. Gone are the days when countries were falling down on
a mere mentioning of the big wigs like the indomitable lions, the super
eagles and the black stars.
I just hope this new ethos in African football would continue. Who knows?
the same result may continue today between the Elephants of Cote d'voire
and the Hawks of Togo. But one would certainly come out victorious between
Algeria Vs Tunisia game. What do you think?
