The much awaited historic Konza Technology City, which is equated to the famous Silicon Valley in the United States of America, is now a reality after the official launch by President Mwai Kibaki on Wednesday.
Will any company with a corporate conscience invest in this project?
Kenya's record of lynchings, other extra-judicial killings by State agents,
and elections-related violence makes me hope not. The UN should relocate,
ALL investors should back away, until the country, led by its incredibly
corrupt Government ('Zero tolerance for corruption!'???? ha!), changes
radically.
do you know which other country in africa has a similar sence of insecurity
and a probably higher level of corruption? NIGERIA, and thats where a City
similar to TATU city will be build, soo really doesent matter,.. But just
to assure you, investors will be the one building the city, not the
gorvenment
Insecurity will remain a problem for Tatu City as long as it doesn't have
its own international airport and a large standing army. I was thinking, by
the way, more of Kenya's abysmal human rights record than of insecurity.
Did you see the article in today's Standard Digital about a possible
further legal tussle that could delay start of construction?
