POLICE in Chegutu on Saturday arrested 14 people, all thought to be MDC-T supporters, for allegedly perpetrating acts of violence when stopped at a roadblock. The supporters are believed to have been on their way to Gweru where MDC-T leader Mr Morgan Tsvangirai was going to address a rally for a "vote Yes" campaign.
I started reading this with interest. Zanu-PF and it's mouthpiece the
Herald are often blaming the MDC's for violence but the only "examples"
seem to be obvious fit-ups like the Glen View killing. No surprise then to
read that police stopped this bus and arrested the driver for running ahead
of his schedule(?!), leading understandably to arguments with the people on
board the bus. I wonder did the police also later arrest the bus driver
for running behind his schedule? Anyone with half a brain can see this for
what it is; a cynical attempt to disrupt and inconvinience people. The ZRP
are a joke, and the Herald is a disgrace.
Violence? Someone alledgedly grabbed a cops cellphone so they arrest 14
people? The Herald makes itself look foolish. They print the police report
word for word including the buses registration number but don't list any of
the alleged acts of violence?
Methinks Zanu is is trying to send a message that they can have anyone
arrested for no reason at all.

As of yesterday these 14 people were still being held in custody without being formally charged. Another wonderfully professional effort by ZRP.
