The Presidency yesterday ended its long silence over the state pardon granted Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, saying the decision was taken to re-integrate ex-convicts who have shown penitence into the society.
Presidents in general do have leverage to make some decisions independently
, but Mr. Jonathan has overdone it . You wish he take same amount of wisdom
to keep the nation secure and uphold the sanctity in guiding our treasury
from Senior Public officials and corrupt law makers in his government. This
is a nation for God sake, not Mr. Jonathans factory. This president fail
to distinguish a Presidential democracy from dictatorship . Executive norms
have been breached several times and his companions in the upper chamber of
government cast their eyes the other way, as long as it helps them get out
from the revolving door. Criminals whose crimes deserve the death penalty
have been spared by this President's whims, while citizens with crimes
driven by hunger and national abandonment are put to the gallows or thrown
into Kirikiri with keys thrown into garbage. His recent pardon include
former friends and workmates with hopeless record of crimes stretching from
London to Nigeria. How can we build from past experience if we're endlessly
chased by history of pathological liars and hopeless criminals. Are really
showing anything for future generations to emulate ? May God help this
sleeping President with more enemies everyday and show no concern to review
his leadership style
