The United Nations has lifted a travel ban on former associates of war crimes convict and former president Charles Taylor - including two of his ex-wives. President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf had urged that the ban be lifted, saying "it is not healthy for people who pose no threat to peace to be banned from traveling".

Some former victims of a UN travel embargo here say their freedom and dignity have been restored by the lifting of the ban on Tuesday.
