Exiled former president Marc Ravalomanana will not be part of 2013 elections, as part of SADC resolutions which also included a ban for his rival, Andry Rajoelina.
Tanzania Daily News (Dar es Salaam), 12 December 2012
OUSTED Madagascar President Marc Ravalomanana will not run for office in elections scheduled for May next year as recommended by SADC to allow restoration of peace and stability in his country.
Ravalo is not a saint as he portrays himself. He will jump into politics as
soon as he enters the country and destabilize any government as he is doing
presently with the blessing of SADC. He has put all his opposition when was
in power and he will do the same at the opportune time. Yes Rajoelina must
not run but let the malagasy decide that. I would say the same for Ravalo
also ie let the malagasy decide, however he is condemned by the malagasy
courts and has no right to run ever again. Tanzanian president wants himto
go home like others. However those others did their exile time because of
Ravalomanana. Let Ravalo do his exile time like Ratsiraka. After ten years
he can go home and retire, because he will mature by then.
Southern African leaders want to bar Madagascar's deposed president, Marc Ravalomanana, from standing in new elections - despite condemning as unconstitutional his ousting in 2009.
