When are we ever going to dismantle this patronage system that patronage system that gives enormous power to the president and not to the people. I knew EJS was going to do something foolish after that for show firings.

This why our system of selecting majors of cities is wrong. The Major of each city should be elected by the residence of the City and not be subject to the approval of the senate nor appointed by the president.

Nonsense! what do you actually mean about the phrase" non government material" You hypocrites, first take the logs out of your own eyes and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye. The present war against our progress now is ignorant, disease and poverty. Monrovia the capital city of Mama Liberia is very filthy; We need proper sanitations to crush the disease in our environment. Corruption is very rampant in the three braches of government and at the market places, these are some of the ills that the plenary of the senate and house should deliberating on, instead of telling one that they are not governmental material. In fact, what makes one governmental material.

Liberian politics: Too much power in the hands of a few, and it feeds into this whole patronage system that's choking off progress in Liberia. So they'd rather have a filty city instead of having the former city major return to serve her country. When will the country have politicians who really have the country at heart?

This is a classic case of re-cycling resources. Re-cycled Madam Broah -"General" Broh = the President's “emergency Sanitary Landfill manager”. Will this be the norm for those questionable corrupt officials that were recently shown the doors? In the case of the City mayor's position, elections should be considered in lieu of appointments.

Quoting Felix Houphouet-Boigny will do it: "Why change a winning team?" Mary Broh is a winner and she has a winning team for the job. Let's put the usual Liberian senseless arguments aside, the nature of the job of a mayor calls for the position to be occupied by a servant of the people, and that is it. Mary Broh stays in the streets with her workers as the job demands, especially in Monrovia which is going through reconstruction. How many Liberian "Big Men" or "Big Women" are willing to do that? For all practical purposes, I don't see anyone more qualified the madame Broh. Bravo! Ellen, You deserve praise, and thank you for not "working for CIA," A Liberian Idiom.
