• Focus On: Credibility of Zimbabwe Elections Questioned

    , Thu 1 Aug, 03:43 pm

The Zimbabwe Election Support Network, a coalition of 31 non-governmental organisations monitoring polls in the country since 2000, has said that the election was "seriously compromised". But observers from the Southern African Development Community and the African Union signalled acceptance of the process, despite challenger Morgan Tsvangirai calling the process a "huge farce."

I wander at the audacity of the MDC-T to cry foul at ZANU-PF when they seem to have employed the same tactics. ZANU-PF claimed victory whilst voting was still underway whilst MDC-T some how seems to have now done the same during the first hours of the count. How in a place like Bulawayo (South, Central, Pumula etc) could they have the majority of the votes already yet they are despised there? Bulawayo is a MDC (as in Welshman Ncube) area, they have been too often disappointed by Morgan Tsvangirai's disingenuous and embarrassing behaviour. ZANU-PF, well what can one say.

In Zimbabwean politics I have learnt to be neutral as the leaders disappoint, but I must say if Tsvangirai is already performing like Mugabe, is it not a disappointment? Also, one begins to wander, what were the observers there for. Do they leave straight after the voting but before the counting?

It is a shame the Ndebele people have no fight left in them! It is also a shame the international community is so focused on Tsvangirai winning they don't care how he does it.

I see the Tsvangirai legacy beginning the same way Mugabe's started!!

    • Zimbabwe: Row Erupts After Mugabe Party Claims Election Win

      allAfrica.com, 1 August 2013

Zimbabwe's most credible civil society election monitors have raised serious questions about the credibility of the country's polls, as President Robert Mugabe's party claimed on Thursday to have "buried" Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai's party, which in turn charged that the election had been a "monumental fraud".

The devil, thru his agents, namely Obasanjo, Nkosazana Zuma, SADC and AU is pushing for WAR in Zimbabwe. The future of Zimbabwe is now in the hands of its sons and daughters and not these criminals. Sooner or later the people will have the last laugh!

pfize, how can you "still be counting" when a senior member of Zanu-PF who has asked for anonymity has ALREADY broadcast that "Zanu-PF has buried Tsvangirai?" Obviously HE knows what Zanu-PF has done or he would not make such an announcement.

When we voted in ZANUPF we also voted in corruption, violence, intimidation, theft and mismanagement. who is to blame ? Rhodies? No the Whites? No, The West ? No. We only have ourselves to blame. Zimbabwe will be nothing except for the few that rape and steal its resources, but dear reader we are the makers of our own demise.

    Kjrs120;

"A senior member of Zanu-PF" with no name??? These are the losers - imposters - who want to purport to be ZANU-PF members when they are not. By purporting to speak on behalf of ZANU-PF, they (MDC-C losers) want to tarnish or soil the good name of the WINNING REVOLUTIONARY party.

ZANU-PF does not need anyone who disturbs the winning pattern of the revolutionary party. That is why Cde Pfize told you - "Sssssh" - to maintain absolute silence as counting is currently in progress.

We are law abiding; and so we wait for the ZEC to announce results before we speak. However, what has been clear to EVERYBODY since two years ago was the fact that ZANU-PF was going to "bury" MDC-C at the polls. This, I suppose, was and still is not a secret!!!

There were about 6.2 million registered voters on the voters list. We're told that over 2 million of those names were of dead people, leaving 4.2 million to elect the president of Zimbabwe. However the local NGO network estimates that about another 1 million registered urban voters were prevented from voting because their names did not appear on the voters list. That leaves 3.2 million people to elect the president in a country where most people seem to want change. Mugabe supporters are claiming that he has won a higher percentage than the 70% that he win in the election of 1980. 70% of 3.2 million voters is a little over 2 million, and… WHAT A COINCIDENCE?… There were about 2 million extra ballots printed by the ZEC! I wonder if the ZEC can show the world 2 million unused ballot papers? I doubt it. Mugabe will claim that those asking to see them are just sore losers.

OK, so the ZEC asked all stakeholders to raise issues with irregularities in the voters roll and got no response. Yet, how is it possible for anyone to raise irregularities if they haven't seen the actual voters roll? When did the stakeholders get a copy of the voters roll that they could analyze? Apparently a day AFTER the election, the non-ZANU-PF parties have still not gotten a searchable, electronic copy of the voters roll!

    Regarding the actual election...

We're told that over 2 million of those names were of dead people, leaving 4.2 million to elect the president of Zimbabwe. However the local NGO network estimates that about another 1 million registered urban voters were prevented from voting because their names had been subsequently removed from the voters roll. That leaves 3.2 million people to elect the president in a country where most people seem to want change. ALL that you are saying is just hot air!! You are just proving to everybody that you are bad losers although you have lost these elections FAIRLY, SQUARELY, OPENLY, CLEARLY, FREELY and in broad daylight. There can never be any election that is as credible as the just concluded harmonised polls in this country.

The reaction from you people and your puppet, Chematama, was to be expected. The build-up to the casting of ballots had seen a lot of stupid issues flying around which was a way of conditioning the world to accept the hogwash that the vote was stolen.

However, we are not going to waste our precious time trying to understand what you are saying because it is just hot air coming from bad losers. Instead, ZANU-PF should be turning its attention to working for and serving the people of Zimbabwe who have CLEARLY given us the mandate to rule this country forever.

The people of this country are expecting us to deliver and so this is the job we have to put ALL our ENERGIES to doing because that is what we promised the people and they responded by voting us OVERWHELMINGLY.

Look at the facts, how many MDC surpporters were funded by MDC to leave the country and spread propaganda on the remit for change? the answer is Millions. Are these not the millions who voted for MDC before they left? answer yes Did MDC not have four and a half years to ensure that this important voter base was maintained and motivated? The answer is yes, they even sat in on the constitution making process and the conclusion is they are a bunch of incompetent thieves who have amassed wealth for themselves from unreliable sources who have led them into a blind ally and left millions of Zimbabweans in the diaspora stranded, labelled traitors and anxiously waiting for a promise that will never be fulfilled. That's international DEmocracy

Registering to vote is done even if there are no election in that particular time or year hence it is also your right to check you name in the voters roll and confirm your eligibility to vote, mobile registration is there to lure or make it as simple as possible for everyone to vote.If one had registered early and was not sure that he or she will be on the voters roll I think it was wise to check you name to avoid to be turned away.so tough luck if you name wasn't on the voters roll since you relay on it.

It is not for Mugabe to produce unused ballot papers. Thats for ZEC. Mugabe should be thinking of how to use the mandate he was won, fair and square. When you do your maths, remember that ZEC recruited election officials with no way of knowing their party affiliation. Then all parties were represented and monitoring each and every polling station. Collate the irregularities and publish them for all to see. Then proceed to a conclusion on whether we have with us the will of the Zimbabwean people or not. It is mischievous to hint or suggest at a stolen election without evidence and in the face of an open process aspects of which are then highlighted as irregular AFTER the results are known.
