My Narrow Escape Traveling with Shabaab Recruits

Fatuma Noor, reporter for the Nairobi Star, was awarded the top prize at this year's CNN MultiChoice African Journalist Awards for an investigative three-part series on Somalia's 'Al-Shabaab'. The paper has re-published the award-winning series in which Noor details her encounters with young Somalis who left the United States to join the insurgent movement. She travels with the recruits from Kenya into Somalia, a journey which landed her in serious jeopardy.
