One critical response is ready-to-eat therapeutic food - a high-protein, high-energy paste filled with essential nutrients. A malnourished boy eats UNICEF-provided therapeutic food at a nutrition centre in Mao. Food shortages in Africas Sahel Region are threatening 1 million under-five children - including more than 100,000 in Chad - with severe malnutrition. UNICEF is requesting US$65.7 million to support initial life-saving responses.
