Senegal: U.S. Urges Action On Ex-Chadian Dictator

The U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has added her voice to a litany of calls for Senegal to extradite the former Chadian dictator Hissène Habré who is accused of responsibility for thousands of political killings when he ruled Chad from 1982 to 1990. The new Senegalese government under President Macky Sall has indicated it prefers to prosecute Habré in Senegal rather than extradite him to Begium where he is wanted on charges of crimes against humanity.
