Why Scott Gration Resigned as U.S. Envoy in Kenya

Scott Gration's 13-month tenure as the American ambassador in Kenya was marked by friction with his superiors and staff and refusal to follow State Department protocol and security measures. He insisted on overseeing the policy towards Somalia and relied on his personal ties to President Obama to get his way. On Friday, however, he resigned citing "differences with Washington regarding my leadership style and certain priorities."
