Interesting the observation of Mr. Carson. The context drew me to my country Equatorial Guinea where there is no conflict nor need for peacekeepers or aid, are you rating this one as democratic country also? Or is it some of the 'other' countries that are doing well? The real truth of these African democracies are based on the will of the leaders NOT a strong foundation of democracy like seperation of powers and their independence, freedom, respect of human rights and good governance. Just go thru the entry into force on 15 February 2012 of the recent African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance to be surprised of the number of countries (or leaders) that have ratified it but are adamant for its compliance - my country is an example where the electoral commission is under the chairmanship of the ruling party. The people of Equatorial Guinea are not familiar with revolts ss it occurred in Cote d'Ivore, Guinea Conakry, Liberia, etc. for changes. Do you foresee democracy in this kind of peaceful and stable country?
