Finance Minister Njeru Githae announced that the Canadian government will choose a company to provide Biometric Voter Registration kits for the 2013 elections, which will be financed by a government-to-government loan worth Sh4.6 billion.

Legislation was also proposed to reduce the voter registration period from 90 to 45 days before the election (file photo).

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Chairman Isaack Hassan said the decision to cancel the tender came after the process became "murky," with two bidders failing due diligence reports and others quoting above the IEBC's budget (file photo).
