Mali: Call for Sanctions as Peace Brokering Continues

As West African mediators open talks with the Al Qaeda-affiliated Islamists occupying Northern Mali, the UN Secretary General is encouraging the security council to "seriously consider" imposing sanctions on those fanning the flames of the conflict, warning that the situation in the country was taking "one alarming turn after another".
