Murder, Contact Crimes Decline in South Africa


The 2011/2012 crime statistics showed that crimes such as attempted murder, assault and rape had fallen while business robberies, stock theft, theft out of motor vehicles, drug-related crimes and driving under the influence of alcohol all increased.

The drop in organised crime show that strategies police put in place over the past three years continued to yield results, the government says.
